NCA Snapshot
Edition 9: November 2025
From the NCA Chair: Cr Helen Davidson, Mayor of Merri-bek City Council
Over recent months, the NCA has taken significant steps to advance the interests of Melbourne’s north through high-level delegations to state and federal parliaments.

These delegations brought together Mayors, council CEOs and regional leaders to present a united voice on the urgent need for coordinated investment in transport, employment and health.

Our discussions with Ministers and Opposition representatives at both levels of government were constructive. They laid a strong foundation for future partnerships, ensuring that the priorities of our rapidly growing region remain on the government agenda.

In addition to our advocacy work, I’m pleased to announce the launch of a new series of Mayoral videos as part of our Connect Melbourne’s North transport campaign. Each of our seven Mayors has delivered a personal message, encouraging residents and businesses to share their experiences with local transport.

These stories are vital. They help us demonstrate the real impact of congestion and limited transport options, and they strengthen our case for much-needed improvements. I encourage everyone to view the videos and add their voice to our campaign via our dedicated campaign website: www.connectmelbournesnorth.com.

This NCA Snapshot marks the final edition featuring our current Mayors, with Mayoral elections taking place in the coming months.

I want to warmly thank my colleagues – Cr Elizabeth Nealy (Banyule), Cr Kristine Olaris (Darebin), Cr Jarrod Bell (Hume), Cr John Dougall (Mitchell), Cr John Dumaresq (Nillumbik) and Cr Martin Taylor (Whittlesea) – for their commitment and collaboration, which have been central to the important regional advocacy achievements highlighted above.
Melbourne’s north is fortunate to be represented by such passionate and capable leaders who serve their communities with distinction. I’m grateful to have worked with them all.
Cr Helen Davidson
Chair, NCA
