Connect Melbourne's North: Campaign update
As part of our Connect Melbourne’s North: It’s time to transform our transport campaign, we’ve asked our community to tell us about their local transport experiences.

Responses have been varied and cover all types of transport, from buses and trains to cars, as well as issues such as electric vehicle charging and transport connectivity.
What they have in common is the fact that people enjoy living in our region and are keen to see things improve – for themselves, their neighbours and local businesses.

Following are a few examples of what we are hearing from our residents:

Talia: Getting into the city by public transport is easy from Brunswick, but if I want to go anywhere else I have to drive or walk. It seems absurd that I need a car to get from Brunswick to Brunswick East – not to mention North Fitzroy!

Blair: The frequency of the Upfield line is abysmal. If I miss a train, I'm stuck waiting up to 30 minutes. It needs to be improved to compare better with other lines.

Brie: I live on the Beveridge/EdenPark/Whittlesea boundary, don’t drive and work in the city. Commuting for me is stressful, limits my participation in the workforce, limits my social life and is very costly.

Our campaign is calling on the federal and state governments to fund critical improvements to transport across our region. Our residents and businesses face increasing challenges that include significant traffic buildup, difficulties getting to work, education and health services, and social isolation. These issues are impacting the lives of thousands of our residents.

The campaign will continue throughout this year and 2025. We encourage everyone to visit our dedicated website – www.connectmelbournesnorth.com – and to give us their thoughts on transport across the region. Your feedback will inform our petitions to government for change.
