The new Mayors of the Northern Councils Alliance (NCA) continue to advocate in support of Melbourne’s growing north.

City of Whittlesea is the 2026 Chair Council, with Mayor, Cr Lawrie Cox appointed as the new Chair of the NCA whilst Mitchell Shire Council will take on the role as Deputy Chair Council, with Mayor, Cr John Dougall appointed as Deputy Chair for 2026.

The focus remains on addressing the regional impacts of the lack of transport connectivity and the need for an outer north hospital to support our growing community.

The NCA looks forward to working with all its regional partners and stakeholders in 2026.

Acknowledgement of Country. The Northern Councils Alliance acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Taungurung people, who are the Traditional Owners of Country throughout Melbourne’s north. We recognise the rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage within our region and their deep and continuing connection to land and waters.  We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Elders past, present and emerging who have and continue to reside in our region and are an important part of our region’s history and future.
